Overview

Digi has established and successfully operated a secondary school scholarship program as a part of our commitment to the development of Education in Belize. Since its inception in 1991, over 700 students have successfully completed the program.  Students who are awarded a scholarship select the high school of their choice and receive a full package of paid tuition and new textbooks for four years.

 


 

Digi Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and academic merit in addition to the following eligibility criteria:

  • Applicant must be a Belizean citizen or a child of a Belizean citizen and residing in Belize for at least three (3) consecutive years.
  • Applicant must be a full-time student of a recognized educational institution by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Belize (MOECST)
  • Applicant must be entering high school for the first time.
  • Applicant must have an average score of 80% or its equivalent GPA for Standard 4, 5 and 6.
  • Applicants whose parents’ or guardian’s combined gross annual income is $20,000 or more are not eligible for a scholarship

The Digi Scholarship Program has been in operation since 1991. To date, over 700 students have  successfully benefitted from the program. 

Who can qualify for a Digi Scholarship?

Students entering high school for the first time can apply for a Digi Scholarship. 

What expenses does the Digi Scholarship cover?

Students who are awarded a scholarship receive FREE tuition and new textbooks.

What are the requirements when applying for a Digi Scholarship?

  • Applicants MUST be a Belizean or a child of a Belizean and have been residing in Belize for at least three (3) consecutive years.
  • Applicants whose parents or guardians’ combined gross annual income is $20,000.00 are not eligible for a Digi scholarship.
  • Applicant must be a full-time student of a recognized educational institution by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Belize (MOECST) 
  • Applicant MUST be entering High School for the first time. 
  • The applicant must have an average of 80% or above for Standard 4,5 and 6

What documents do I need to submit when I apply for a Digi Scholarship?

  • A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
  • A copy of the Parents/Guardians Tax TD4 Supplementary slips OR official income statement letter from the Income Tax Department in your district OR letter from employer (necessary for both working parents/guardians where applicable).
  • A copy of the applicant’s yearly report cards for Standard 4, 5 and 6.

If awarded a Digi Scholarship, can I select the school that I want to attend?

If awarded a Digi Scholarship you are able to attend the school of your choice.

When is the deadline to apply for a Digi Scholarship?

The deadline to apply for a Digi Scholarship is June, 30  2024.
