Senior Designer, Power & Cooling

in its Operations Division with duty station in “Belize City”

ABOUT ROLE:  The Senior Designer-Power & Cooling, is responsible for overseeing all aspects related to the planning, engineering, designing, implementing, managing, optimizing, and decommissioning of Power and Cooling Systems. This role is focused on various classes and categories of power and cooling solutions, with a specific focus on systems used in Data Centers and other Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) infrastructure. This position reports to the Manager, Core & Mobile Network Engineering

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications, IT Engineering in Electrical Power Systems & Solutions, or related field.
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Electrical Power Systems.
  • Wireman’s License – Technician (possess or will obtain within 1 year)
  • Wireman’s License – Electrician or Registered Professional Engineering License
  • The capacity to conceptualize and optimize operational network and ICT platform strategies effectively.
  • Maintenance of personal and professional knowledge, education and training in order to maintain relevance in his/her respective roles.
  • Valid Driver’s License for Manual and Automatic Transmission Vehicles

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

 

Planning & Maintenance

  1. Planning, engineering, and managing cost and performance optimization.
  2. Planning, engineering, managing, and optimizing growth in terms of capacity & scalability.
  3. Planning, engineering, managing, and optimizing resources, including human, financial, physical, intellectual & informational, and technological resources.
  4. Creating and maintaining documentation, standards, policies, standard operating procedures, method of procedures, and engineering documentation.
  5. Learn and gain insights on other technologies and processes used within and outside of the organization, including business and other processes to support the execution of roles and responsibilities.

 

Change Management

  1. Chair the Datacenter Change Management Committee and spearhead the continuous improvement of the Datacenter Change Management Process of the Organization
  2. Leading and supporting change and value management.
  3. Leading and optimizing software and hardware life cycles and supporting the management of related risks and issues.
  4. Learn and gain insights on other technologies and processes used within and outside of the organization, including business and other processes to support the execution of roles and responsibilities.

 

Leadership

  1. Providing guidance, coaching, training, support, and awareness to team members and the broader organization as required.
  2. Leading or supporting the application for relevant permissions, licenses, and permits to regulatory authorities.
  3. Assisting management team members in creating, growing, and building a world-class, industry-leading organization.
  4. Coaching, supporting, and upskilling technical and operations staff and other relevant personnel.
  5. Presentation of information and clarification to non-technical staff for them to understand existing and future technologies and solutions.

 

Optimization

  1. Optimize and advise on the power consumption of the existing power and cooling implementations to reduce recurrent cost for the Organization.
  2. Planning and engineering the phase-out and decommissioning of legacy systems & solutions.
  3. Collaborating with senior management to create, implement, and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructure, reporting systems, and company policies designed to foster efficiencies within the organization.
  4. Driving company results from both operational and financial perspectives, collaborating closely with the senior management team and other key management team members.
  5. Support the functional and project managers in terms of budgeting, forecasting and resource management.

 

Documentation & Reporting

  1. Creating and maintaining documentation, standards, policies, standard operating procedures, method of procedures, and engineering documentation.
  2. Managing maintenance SLAs and provider contracts.
  3. Documentation and sharing of information of all activities, including companywide reports and dashboards.

 

Accountability

  1. Drive overall company results from both an engineering and financial perspective, working closely with the pertinent GM’s and C-levels.
  2. Develop effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes; be data-driven as a manager.
  3. Deliver on agreed SLA’s/KPI’s regarding planning & engineering, capacity actions, and optimization of BTL’s networks and relevant systems.
  4. Collaborate with the functional managers in terms budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
