DigiCell Roaming service allows you continued access to your Voice (talk & text) and Data services from your DigiCell Postpaid number when you travel outside of Belize. Make and receive calls, send and receive messages, stream and surf the web hassle free.  You can benefit from our partnership with nearly 250 carriers in over 100 countries worldwide.

Roaming is a Premium service. Any usage while roaming which include making and receiving calls, including calls going to voicemail, sending text messages and the use of mobile data services will be billed at roaming rates. These rates vary from country to country and frequently change based on international exchange rates and international provider charges.

To enjoy the convenience of talk, text and data while traveling, follow these steps. 

 

Note: If you are not connected automatically to a network, you may have to manually select a network.

To manually select a Network:

  • Select Menu / Settings / Network Settings
  • Select Manual
  • Select Network (they will be displayed)
    e.g. T-Mobile, AT&T, Vodafone

 

PostPaid Roaming Credit Requirements: 

All PostPaid customers who opt to activate voice and/or data roaming services will be required to get an increase in credit limit and pay a deposit depending on roaming limit selected.

How do I turn roaming on/off?

To activate PostPaid roaming you must visit a Digi Office or contact a Sales Representative to request this service. Be sure to specify if you want Voice (talk & text) and/or data roaming service activated on your mobile number.

 

What documents do I need to present to the Digi Customer Service Representative to have PostPaid Roaming activated on my account?

Customers who wish to activate PostPaid Roaming (Voice & Text or Data) will need to present a valid ID (Social Security Card, Passport or Driver’s License) to confirm owner of the account.  Also, an increase in the account’s credit limit is required—this requires a $250 cash deposit.  

How do I make a call while roaming?

From the USA to Belize:

  • Access code (011) + country code (501)+ phone number e.g.: 011-501-600-0001

From any country to any country:

  • Dial: Access code + destination country code + phone number

        Helpful tips for calling abroad:

  • If the international number you wish to call starts with a 0 (zero), you must drop this digit when dialing the number. The 0 (zero) is a "trunk code" used for domestic calls within many countries.

How do I access my voicemail while roaming?

You will be charged if calls go to voicemail while roaming. To avoid roaming charges it is recommended that you deactivate voicemail while in Belize or abroad.

 

Follow the below instructions to check, deactivate and activate voicemail. 

 

  1. Dial *#67# to check if your voice mail is on or off.

 

  1. Dial #002# to deactivate your voice mail while roaming (optional to avoid chargers for calls going to voice mail)
  2. Upon return, dial *002# to enable your VM

 

For the above actions you will receive a flash message on your device updating you on command requested.

 

What is PostPaid Data Roaming and how does this work?

PostPaidData Roaming allows you to stream and surf the web while traveling abroad. In order to data roam, you must first request this service at a Digi Office and make the requisite $250 cash deposit in order to increase your credit limit.  Important to note is that data roaming is charged based on usage.

What usage alerts do I get when I data roam?

The automatic text notifications at 25%, 50% and 100% of data consumption will no longer be sent to customers. 

 

Given this change, you will need to be mindful of your data usage when traveling so as to avoid service disconnection or prevent bill shock.

 

How can I track my data usage on my device?

It is recommended for you to download a Data Management App from Google Play Store or Apple Store to assist with data monitoring and management. The App will be able to provide you with the amount of data consumed at any given time. To get an accurate reading, you will need to end all data browsing session(s) by putting your device on Airplane Mode.

 

Roaming Tip

Before roaming, you are advised to limit your non-preferred apps to be usable on Wi-Fi only. Apps are often using cellular data while running in the background.
