DigiCell roaming services allow you continued access to Voice, Text and Data services with your PostPaid number when traveling outside of Belize. You can benefit from our partnership with nearly 250 Carriers in over 100 countries worldwide by being able to make and receive calls, send and receive text messages and access your mobile data. 

Roaming continues to be a premium service, but our aim is to make it worry-free so you can stay connected to family and friends while away from home.

PostPaid Data Roaming Plans

Traveling elsewhere or roaming without a plan?  You’ll still have access to Data Roaming. You will be charged based on actual usage (per MB of Data) and charges vary by Carrier by Country. Your Data Roaming Spending Limit is here to protect you against any unforeseen charges.

Voice & Text Roaming

As a PostPaid customer, voice and text roaming are automatically activated on your account. There are associated charges with both incoming and outgoing calls and texts, and the rates vary by Carrier by Country.

How do I activate roaming on my account?

As a PostPaid customer, Voice and Text roaming are automatically activated on your account. To activate Data Roaming, kindly visit a Digi office or contact our Call Center for support. You must be the account owner to have this service activated.

 

How do I connect to a network while roaming?

If you are not automatically connected to a network, you may have to manually select a network.

To do so:

-  Select Menu / Settings / Network Settings

-  Select Manual

-  Select Network (Options will be displayed if coverage is available in the area)

-  e.g. T-Mobile, AT&T, Vodafone

How do I make a call while roaming?

From the USA to Belize:

  • Access code (011) + country code (501)+ phone number e.g.: 011-501-600-0001

From any country to any country:

  • Dial: Access code + destination country code + phone number

        Helpful tips for calling abroad:

  • If the international number you wish to call starts with a 0 (zero), you must drop this digit when dialing the number. The 0 (zero) is a "trunk code" used for domestic calls within many countries.

What is a Data Roaming Spending Limit?

To prevent any bill shock while using data roaming services, you have a spending limit on your account simply managing data roaming spend. To set/change this limit, you can reach out to us directly. The spending limit varies for each account, but the minimum is $250 per phone number.

What is DigiCell’s PostPaid Data Roaming Plan?

As a limited time offer, DigiCell PostPaid Data Roaming plans will allow PostPaid customers the added benefit of purchasing a data roaming plan with allotted data allowances while roaming in 41 destinations.

 

Is a PostPaid Data Roaming Plan required to roam?

PostPaid customers can currently data roam in over 100 countries worldwide. This simply requires the activation of the Data Roaming service on your account before traveling. To get this service, you can contact us directly at 119 or +501 608-8888.

The rate to roam varies by Carrier by country and is charged per MB used. Since Data Roaming is a premium service, in order to prevent bill shock, we have a Data Roaming Spending Limit in place to work in preventing any unwanted charges. We have three (3) limits to choose from, and you can contact us if you wish to increase your limit.

How long does a PostPaid Data Roaming plan last?

Each roaming plan has a varying expiration period (i.e. 7, 15 or 30 days), or once depleted, whichever comes first. You can purchase a new plan to extend the expiration date of an active plan. The furthest expiration date will apply.

How can the PostPaid Data Roaming plans be purchased?

You can purchase a PostPaid Data Roaming plan by contacting us via WhatsApp or text message at +501 608-8888.

Please note that Data Roaming service must be active on your account. If you do not have this service and wish to have it activated, you must first contact us directly. Our customer support will guide you through the selection of a Data Roaming Spending Limit to protect against excessive charges.

How can I check my PostPaid Data Roaming balance?

You will receive standard SMS notifications at 75%, 90% and 100% of your data consumption. Be sure to end your data session by turning on then turning off airplane mode in your settings.

How can I track my data usage while traveling?

It is recommended that you download a Data Management App from Google Play Store or Apple Store to assist with data monitoring and management. The App will be able to provide you with the amount of data consumed at any given time. To get an accurate reading, you will need to end all data browsing session(s) by putting your device on Airplane Mode.

 

 

ADDED TIP

Before roaming, you are advised to limit your non-preferred apps to be usable on Wi-Fi only. Apps are often using cellular data while running in the background.

Can I purchase more than one PostPaid Data Roaming plan?

Yes, you can purchase more than one Data Roaming plan. The data allowance of your plans will accumulate, and the furthest expiration date will apply.

What happens if my PostPaid Data Roaming plan is depleted?

If your PostPaid Data Roaming plan allowance is depleted, your data roaming charges will then be based on actual usage. Price per MB varies by Carrier. PostPaid Data Roaming is a premium service so we would encourage the purchase of another data roaming plan to avoid unwanted charges. Your Data Roaming Spending Limit will work to prevent excessive charges.

What happens if my spending limit is met and I am traveling?

Data roaming services will be suspended if spending limit is met while traveling. Contact Digi to have your account reviewed and spending limit potentially increased (Standard credit rules apply).

How does the Data Roaming Plan work if I am a part of a shared PostPaid Plan?

Only PostPaid Members of a shared PostPaid plan can use the PostPaid Data Roaming Plans. The owner of the account must activate the Data Roaming Service for the member that would like to use data roaming. Ensure you have the phone number of the PostPaid member. Once Data Roaming service is activated, the owner can then purchase a Data Roaming Plan for that member. Data Roaming plan allowances cannot be shared across members.

How do I access voicemail while traveling?

While roaming, you will be charged if calls go to voicemail. To avoid roaming charges, it is recommended that you deactivate voicemail while in Belize or abroad.

Follow the below instructions to check, deactivate and activate voicemail. 

  1. Dial *#67# to check if your voice mail is on or off.
  1. Dial #002# to deactivate your voice mail while roaming (optional to avoid chargers for calls going to voice mail)
  2. Upon return, dial *002# to enable your VM

For the above actions you will receive a flash message on your device updating you on command requested.
