Scholarship Program 2021

Digi has established and successfully operated a secondary school scholarship program as a part of our commitment to the development of Education in Belize. Since its inception in 1991, over 700 students have successfully completed the program.  

Students who are awarded a scholarship select the high school of their choice and receive a full package of paid tuition & new textbooks for four years.

Deadline: June 18th, 2021

Applicants must be: 

  • between the ages of eleven (11) to fourteen (14)
  • entering high school for the first time
  • a Belizean or a child of a Belizean and have been residing in Belize for at least three (3) consecutive years
  • Must have an average of 80% or above for Standard 4, 5 & 6

25 New Recipients Join Digi Scholarship Program– June 2019

On August 9th, 2019, Digi held its 28th Annual Scholarship Ceremony at the Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina to welcome 25 NEW recipients. The Digi Scholarship Program has been established since 1991 and has assisted over 600 students in their educational pursuits.

In his welcome address, Digi’s Chief Executive Officer, Rochus Schreiber highlighted Digi’s ongoing commitment to education in Belize. Schreiber stated, “Education is the key to success; therefore, it is imperative that Digi provides educational support to these young men and women who will shape Belize’s future.” He also encouraged the recipients to take full advantage of the scholarship opportunity that was awarded to them.

Present at the ceremony was also Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Dr. Neulin Villanueva. Dr. Villanueva addressed the recipients in her keynote remarks which detailed the Ministry’s aim to improving education in Belize. She added, “We are grateful to Corporate Partners like, Digi, whose community mindedness and financial contribution help to make secondary education in Belize more possible.”

Students under the Digi Scholarship program are awarded FREE tuition and textbooks for four years at any high school of their choice, along with a yearly uniform allowance, and assistance with tutoring in core subject areas. The Digi Scholars were selected from different areas in the country based on criterions such as, financial need and academic merit. Currently, 92 students are a part of the Digi Scholarship Program. Digi continues to support initiatives that enhances education in Belize and remains a key priority as a part of the company’s Go Beyond Strategy.
